Work-Based Learning Terms and Conditions

All parties jointly agree to the following:

1. The Work-Based Learning experience shall be within a business or industry directly related to the career interest        expressed by the student.

2. The student will complete 40 hours or more on-the-job experience aligned to the career pathway in the student’s      Individual Graduation Plan (IGP).

3. The student will remain at the Work-Based site for an agreed-upon time period.

4. Monetary compensation may be available to the student for participation in the Work-Based Learning program.

5. The work-site supervisor adheres to wage and hour, child labor, and all other federal, state, and local laws                    pertaining to student employment.

6. The WBL experience follows a mutually developed training agreement outlining the skills and objectives to be            mastered.

7. Students comply with the rules and regulations of the work site, observing the same regulations that apply to              other employees.

8. Students are expected to receive a positive evaluation by the employer on a mutually developed performance            evaluation tied to the training agreement. A score of 3 or higher on a scale of 5 constitutes a positive evaluation.

9. The Work-Based supervisor shall provide evaluation of the student midway and at the end of the experience.

10. The work site supervisor will notify the instructor or WBL Facilitator if a problem arises with the student's                      employment.

11. The parent/guardian encourages the student to effectively carry out the work experience requirements both in          the classroom and on the job.

12. The parent or guardian is responsible for transportation of the student to and from the Work-Based site.

13. The parent or guardian is responsible for the conduct of the student who is participating in the Work-Based                Learning program.

14. The School District of Pickens County provides liability insurance coverage for each student enrolled in WBL                courses.

15. Safety instructions will be provided by the employer to the student.

16. The Work-Based site conforms to all federal, state, and local labor laws while providing the student with a variety        of work-site experiences.

17. The parent/guardian holds the SDPC and its employees harmless for the risks associated with transportation and        the WBL experience.

18. This agreement may be terminated, after consultation with the WBL Facilitator, for due cause or for unforeseen          business conditions.

19. Students will be accepted and assigned to sites without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, handicap, or          disadvantage.
